Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally by the name Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and was the first female to sign with J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 21st, 2016 she dropped Pho, her first EP under the label Dreamville Records. This was when she first gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her tracks on the internet in 2012 when she launched her debut mixtape Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound along with the mixtape she self-released, Five Finger Discount. The track Sweat it is featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album which dropped on July 21st, 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time and wanted her to create Rihanna references. The 8th of December was the day she announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat, a track she sang with Cozz for her Revenge of the Dreamers II collaboration album. In October of 2016 she dropped her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's song Change and also performed as the opening act on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. The singer also performed on the songs Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus along with Bas the label's co-founders. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. Her second single Grampa on November 9. Two more singles were released on the 11th of November, titled Pedigree and No One. Then she appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single in February 2019 for her debut album the same name. A music video was released on February 20, 2019 to go along with the track. Within the first period of a week, the video had more than 3,000,000 views. She was the supporting act for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
